Fortnite celebrates 20 million players, adds bush camouflage

The first trailer bears more than a passing resemblance to PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds - players parachute in, the game area is restricted via a circle, squadmates are downed, there are vehicles and, of course, campers. Previously, Fortnite: Battle Royale managed to make it to console before PUBG, which earned it a pretty large boost, but the two games remain neck and neck in different areas of opportunity. The game that felled it was-you guessed it-another PUBG-esque mobile game.

We just passed 20 million players across all of Fortnite since launch! After listening to the growing feedback from our community and reviewing the gameplay for ourselves, we are concerned that Fortnite may be replicating the experience for which PUBG is known.

For those who may have been living in a cave for the past year, PlayerUnkown's Battlegrounds is a large-scale multiplayer deathmatch inspired by movies like The Hunger Games and Battle Royale.

The title has been played by 20m people since its summer release. In addition to selling over 20 million copies, the game has set records for most concurrent players on Steam, surpassing 2 million in October.

Both PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds and Fortnite are now available in early access form.
