DC's 'Shazam!' has found its Billy Batson.

Multiple sources reported today that Asher Angel, co-star of teen comedy series Andi Mack on The Disney Channel, has signed on to play the role of Billy Batson.

In a follow-up to the news that actor Zachary Levi has been cast as Captain Marvel / Shazam in the upcomimg Shazam movie, the character's alter ego of Billy Batson has also been cast.

The project is casting up as it heads toward a production start in early 2018, with Mark Strong already in talks to play the villain and Grace Fulton in line for a lead.

Captain Marvel's arch nemesis is the supervillain Black Adam, who will be played by Dwayne Johnson in a separate film which will build to a future big screen adventure in which they will both clash.

Asher Angel has joined the DC universe.

The iconic DC hero was originally known as "Captain Marvel"... but was later renamed 'Shazam!' using the names of several ancient figures as an acronym - Solomon, Hercules, Atlas, Zeus, Achilles, and Mercury.

Recently, Johnson, 45, confirmed he was offered the opportunity to play both DC Comics characters, but made a decision to take on Black Adam because there's more depth to his backstory.

"Shazam" hits theaters in April 2019.
