Frank Underwood out of story as Netflix fires Kevin Spacey

The documents show that the two-time Academy Award-winning actor had been filing trademark paperwork with USA authorities to acquire rights to "Presidential by Kevin Spacy".

Spacey's publicist cut ties with him on Thursday and it was not known who now represents him.

Netflix, one of the studios behind House of Cards, suspended sixth season production after actor Anthony Rapp accused Spacey of unwanted sexual advances when Rapp was 14.

But the network also says it is pulling the plug on a movie deal in which Spacey would play Gore Vidal in a movie that he also is producing.

Variety reports that up to 300 cast and crew members could be out of a job if they chose not to shoot a sixth season. Spacey quickly apologized for his drunken behavior via Twitter, but insisted he had no recollection of the incident. "We will continue to work with MRC [Media Rights Capital] during this hiatus time to evaluate our path forward as it relates to the show".

In the following days, other men came forward to make claims against Spacey.

Producers of the Netflix show "House of Cards' are considering killing off Kevin Spacey's character in the wake of sexual assault allegations against the actor". Since Spacey's apology, more people have accused him of sexual harassment.

Another accuser is Harry Dreyfuss, the actor son of Richard Dreyfuss, who said Spacey groped him at Spacey's London apartment while his father was present but not aware what was happening, according to Vox.

The streaming company suspended production earlier this week of the upcoming sixth and final season of the political intrigue drama, in which Spacey plays USA president Frank Underwood.

Netflix's move to cut ties with Spacey went beyond "House of Cards". It was the first original online-only television series to garner major Emmy Award nominations.
