Social Media Slams Larry David for His 'SNL' Concentration Camp Joke

Some Saturday Night Live viewers criticized host Larry David after he made a joke about concentration camps in his opening monologue. He noted that numerous offenders are unfortunately shared the same religion as him, Judaism.

Larry David is no stranger to being controversial with his comedy, but some people on social media are saying his jokes this weekend about Hitler and concentration camps went too far.

"I just want to say, this show is a travesty".

"Hey Shlomo, look at the one over there by Barracks 8". I'd like to go up and say something to her.

See some of the reactions below.

"'You know, if we ever get out of here, I'd love to take you out for some latkes". David's monologue also featured a joke about Harvey Weinstein, the Hollywood producer at the center of the recent storm of sexual misconduct allegations rocking the entertainment industry. David also tackled Harvey Weinstein (a subject SNL had deliberately shied away from previously), noting along the way that Weinstein and numerous other major Hollywood figures being accused of sexual misconduct are Jewish (David is himself Jewish).

"I don't like it when Jews are in the headlines for notorious reasons", David, who is Jewish, continued. I want Einstein discovers the theory of relativity. Another man added: "Everyone complaining about Larry David being awkward and *offensive* as if they've never heard of Larry David". Is it me or the whole thing? "It's because I'm bald isn't it", apparently referring to both his own bald pate and the Nazi practice of shaving concentration camp inmates' heads. And though David is Jewish himself, some angry viewers don't find these jokes to be very amusing at all.

At the end of his opening monologue, he told a joke about concentration camps. "Loser", one person wrote.
