Pixar Pier transformation at Disney California Adventure begins January 8

Incredicoaster will feature new scenes, special effects and a musical score that will connect it to "The Incredibles 2", the sequel to the 2004 hit which hits theaters on June 14, 2018, the release stated. We've got all the deets about the space that's turning into - wait for it - Pixar Pier, and TBH, we couldn't be more excited. The park will install 24 new gondolas on its Mickey's Fun Wheel featuring different Pixar characters, but fear not, Disney diehards - Mickey's iconic face will remain on the Paradise Bay-facing side of the Wheel.

The theme park will revamp Paradise Pier into Pixar Pier in the summer of 2018 with new attractions, restaurants, and more featuring beloved characters and iconography from Pixar movies. Permanently transformed from the attraction that is now California Screamin', Incredicoaster will invite guests into a mid-century-modern-style loading area where they board vehicles with a distinctive, new look.

Neighborhood number three will bring you straight into Toy Story and is centered on the wildly popular Toy Story Mania!

In preparation for all the big changes, California Screamin', along with Mickey's Fun Wheel, Games of the Boardwalk and Sideshow Shirts, will close January 8.

A fourth new neighborhood will celebrate a collection of guest-favorite Pixar stories.

Also subject to transformation: Mickey's Fun Wheel, the park's Ferris wheel, which will be overhauled to include images of Pixar characters.

Also shutting down that day to undergo Pixar-themed transformations are Ariel's Grotto restaurant and the Cove Bar; the latter will open again briefly in April before undergoing the permanent change. At the Games of the Boardwalk, which already includes the Bullseye Stallion Stampede game, all of the midway games will be inspired by Pixar characters.

The opening of Pixar Pier will add to the fun of Pixar Fest, a celebration of friendship that begins April 13, 2018.

The rest of Paradise Pier, from the Silly Symphony Swings all the way around to The Little Mermaid ride, will become Paradise Park as Disney splits the former Paradise Pier in two.
