Cody Garbrandt Opens Up On His Inspiration To Fight

Cody Garbrandt will defend his UFC Bantamweight Championship Saturday night at UFC 217 against T.J. Dillashaw, and Garbrandt will have all the inspiration he needs for the bout thanks to a young fan in his corner. Dillashaw would take some momentum back with a big head kick that dropped the champion!

Towards the end of the round now and Garbrandt lands a bombing right hand that floors Dillashaw, but the bell saves him.

The action picked up right where it left off in the second round as Dillashaw had an immaculate recovery from being rocked. In the second round, Dillashaw knockedGarbrandt dow with a nice high kick and eventually landed a huge shot that folded Garbrandt over, pouring on the ground and pound to finish the fight. I felt good the first round, like I said I'm the better fighter in there, and I'd like to run it back.

Victor: T.J. Dillashaw, TKO, round 2.

The two rivals used to be training partners and teammates at Team Alpha Male. "I don't go to battle alone".

Dillashaw emerged with the bantamweight belt and became a two-time UFC champion, but he had to overcome being dropped in the first round. And I didn't get it. It was a testament to Garbrandt's blazing hand speed and punching power. There's a lot of people calling me out when I'm the champion, just because I have a little setback - I'm still here, I'm still hungry. I should still be the champion.

If for some reason this matchup with Johnson just can not come together for Dillashaw, he still has a score to settle with Dominick Cruz at bantamweight, and will likely await the victor of Cruz and Jimmie Rivera at UFC 219.

"[The bantamweight title] should've been around my waist the whole time", Dillashaw said. And that's that. I stand behind everything that I said about T.J., but I give him respect for going out there and capitalizing on a mistake, but I truly am the better fighter, and I want that rematch. "You dodged me and I'm coming for that belt".

"You've got that record and it's fake".

"I don't", he said.
