Kevin Spacey's future with Netflix just collapsed like a 'House of Cards'

It remains unclear whether Netflix's decision means Spacey will eventually be fired from House of Cards, or if the show will be prematurely canceled before it finishes its sixth season.

British police are looking into an allegation of sexual assault against the actor Kevin Spacey dating back to 2008, according to reports.

"They shut it down to figure out how to write him out", a source told the Tinseltown trade mag.

The streamer went on to state that it has tossed the planned Gore Vidal biopic in which Spacey was set to star: "We have also decided we will not be moving forward with the release of the film Gore, which was in post-production, starring and produced by Kevin Spacey". The studio's statement reads, "MRC, in partnership with Netflix, will continue to evaluate a creative path forward for the program during the hiatus".

"Spacey responded to Rapp's initial allegations, saying that he didn't remember the encounter and offered an apology". Actors like Zachary Quinto, George Takei and Wanda Sykes called him out for deflecting attention from his alleged crime to his coming out moment, and thus began the downward spiral of Spacey's reputation.

That's when 14-year-old actor Anthony Rapp claims Spacey made physical sexual advance toward him.

Spacey spent a substantial amount of time in London between 2004 and 2015, during which period he was artistic director of the Old Vic, a top theater in the capital.

Spacey's then-publicist said the actor was "taking the time necessary to seek evaluation and treatment" and that "no other information will be available at this time".

One crew member, who has worked on the show - which has suspended production indefinitely in light of allegations against its lead star - claimed he was regularly touched inappropriately by Spacey but didn't "feel comfortable" asking him to stop. When the staffer told Spacey he wasn't comfortable with the situation, he said Spacey became "visibly flustered" and left the set for the rest of the day.
