Beyonce set to join cast of 2019 'The Lion King' remake

But things aren't all hakuna matata for "Lion King" fans.

Rumors have swirled in Hollywood for months about Beyoncé's reported attachment to the project, but she waited until Wednesday to confirm her role as Nala in a Facebook post. "If Beyoncé's in it, it's called the Lion Queen".

Desperate Housewives star Alfre Woodward will voice Simba's mother and Mufasa's wife Sarabi. Seth Rogen will voice Pumbaa and Billy Eichner will voice his meerkat sidekick, Timon. Metro Detroit's Keegan-Michael Key (who you may remember from Key & Peele or Netflix's Friends From College) will have the honor of playing one of the pesky hyena's named Kamari.

How is the Lion King being remade?

The new live film action Disney's 1994 animated film also features singer and actress Beyonce Knowles, actor James Earl Jones and comedian John Oliver.

Live-action renditions of beloved classics have become a cornerstone for Disney in recent years.

An official synopsis teased that the remake will "utilise pioneering filmmaking techniques to bring treasured characters to life in a whole new way".

I think its safe to say based on the above announcements, that the Jon Favreau directed reboot is going to be a massive success for the studio already.
