Josh Gordon conditionally reinstated, potential impact to be determined in coming weeks

"It is ultimately up to Josh".

Gordon led the league in receiving yards in 2013 despite the fact that he only played in 14 games.

Indeed, Gordon, who has been suspended indefinitely since September of 2016 without pay for multiple violations of the NFL-NFLPA Policy and Program for Substances of Abuse, was conditionally reinstated two summers ago before entering an inpatient rehabilitation facility.

Cleveland Browns wide receiver Josh Gordon has been reinstated by the National Football League, the league announced Wednesday. Effective immediately, Gordon can attend meetings with the team, engage in conditioning work, and individual workouts.

The 26-year-old will be eligible at the team's discretion to return to active status on November 27 or remain on the commissioner's exempt list for an additional week before returning to active status.

"The personal well-being of all our players is of the utmost importance to us", Browns EVP of Football Operations Sashi Brown said in a statement to ESPN's Adam Schefter. We respect and commend Josh for taking the steps necessary to have the opportunity to return to the league.

That time frame means that Gordon, 26, could potentially be on the field for the Browns' Week 13 game at the Los Angeles Chargers.

Meanwhile, Corey Coleman, the Browns' first-round pick in 2016, was placed on injured reserve after Week 2 with a broken hand.

"I need to live out my amends", Gordon added.

"I've used alcohol on many, many occasions", Gordon said in the video. "Somebody who is accountable, reliable, because I know what's on the other side of that". Gordon had 87 catches for 1,646 yards and nine touchdowns with the Browns and seemed on his way to becoming one of the league's stars at the position.

Gordon returned to the Browns on Monday, November 17, 2014, after serving the league-mandated 10-game suspension for a failed drug test, but after a Week 16 appearance, he has not returned to an NFL field. The problem is Gordon just can't avoid getting suspended for constantly violating the NFL's substance abuse policy.
