Abraham, Gomez, Loftus-Cheek get England call-ups

He is joined in the squad by fellow untested players Ruben Loftus-Cheek, another who left Chelsea in the summer after joining Crystal Palace, and Liverpool defender Joe Gomez.

England face world champions Germany first on Friday, November 10, before the 2014 hosts Brazil visit on November 14.

England will host Germany on the 10th November and Brazil on the 14th at Wembley as they prepare for next year's World Cup in Russian Federation.

Tammy Abraham has impressed on loan at Swansea so far this season, with the Chelsea forward scoring four times in 10 Premier League appearances.

Manchester United's Ashley Young, who last played for his country in September 2013, was recalled for his impressive run under Jose Mourinho at Manchester United.

"If I'm asking club managers to be courageous and pick young players, I think I've got to do the same", England manager Gareth Southgate told journalists at a Wembley press conference. "His all-round game is developing, including back-to-goal and defensive positioning".

Gomez, a 20-year-old defender, has been rewarded for his bright start to the season with Liverpool. "He's played very well for Manchester United".

Meanwhile Southgate has dropped a number of established squad members including Daniel Sturridge, Chris Smalling and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, while Ashley Young returns.

However, he added: "There is no question about his ability, his football brain or personality, we just need to see him playing before he comes back in because unfortunately there has been a history of injuries".

" I don't know how you get in an England squad without getting in the Arsenal team".
