SGF's Sack: Senate Has Been Vindicated - Saraki

Na'Allah maintained that the Senate had shown its commitment to dealing with corrupt public officials, promising that they would continue to do so without falling prey to sponsored protests by some gullible Nigerians.

The new appointment it was learnt that was part of the move by kitchen cabinet of the President Buhari led government to give the president an edge in the coming 2019 elections.

While they cautiously commended the President for sacking the two men after an indication of involvement in corruption, the groups demanded their immediate prosecution and release of the report that indicted them. So, like I said I will not be too quick to say what I am going to do in office, but I have a general picture.

There is also the messy fight between the Minister of State for Petroleum Resources, Dr. Ibe Kachikwu and the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation, NNPC, Group Managing Director, GMD, Mr. Maikanti Baru.

Also on the top of the Senate's investigation is allegation of misappropriation of funds and non-remittances to the Federation Account against some revenue agencies and other ministries, departments and agencies of government.

The declaration followed personal explanation by Deputy Senate Leader, Senator Bala Ibn Na'Allah.

He said that the outcome of the investigation had vindicated the Senate in its poise to expose and fight corruption wherever it was found.

"When we started tis crusade, the same Nigerians that we were fighting for were paid to close down the National Assembly in the name of Occupy Nass".

"That is why you see that the oath of office given to you says you should do that without fear or favour". Can we not have the authority to shout a sign of vindication?

"In the light of the foregoing, I am not able to approve the recommendation to remove and prosecute Engineer Lawal on the basis of the Senate ad-hoc committee report dated 15th December, 2016", Buhari had said.

"Boss Mustapha has a very long history of political activities and my impression on him is that, apart from being a lawyer with a very good reputation in terms of integrity, he has always been a consistent person in whatever course he pursues".

Ekiti State Governor, Mr Ayodele Fayose has described President Muhammadu Buhari's sack of the suspended Secretary to the Government of the Federation SGF, Babachir Lawal, and the Director General, National Intelligence Agency (NIA), Ayodele Oke as face-saving and an afterthought, noting that; "The President only acted because of the outcry of Nigerians, especially over the fraudulent reinstatement of the former Chairman of the Presidential Task Force on Pension Reforms, Mr Abdullahi Maina". However, the former NIA boss had not been replaced yet.
