Burnley chairman Mike Garlick wants Everton-linked Dyche for next five years

Everton will make Burnley boss Sean Dyche their number one target as they continue to search for a successor to Ronald Koeman, report Sky Sports.

Dyche has admitted he has found it "nice" to be linked with the vacant managerial post at Goodison Park but insisted he remained focused on Burnley, who host Newcastle United on Monday night (30 October).

"I think it was an even game, a game that we were controlling and we knew by scoring one goal we could win or, in this case, we could lose", the Spaniard told Sky Sports.

It has also been claimed that the latest talk of Everton making an imminent move for Dyche has not emanated from Merseyside.

Since joining Burnley in 2012, Dyche has experienced great success at Turf Moor, helping guide the club to two Premier League promotions - he is now the third longest serving manager in the division behind Arsene Wenger and Eddie Howe. He's obviously got ambition but we're happy he's here.

Dyche has a £2.5million buy-out clause in his contract and Garlick said the club were not yet looking for potential replacements.

Burnley are now seventh in the Premier League after 10 games, having won four times so far this season.

With David Unsworth doing little to suggest that his caretaker role will be turned into a full time appointment, Everton are pressing ahead with their attempt to get a new manager.

It will be very interesting to see the response of Everton fans to the news that they want Sean Dyche as their new manager.

Despite this, 88.1% of all bets on the next Everton manager market over the past 24 hours have been on Dyche, with his odds dramatically slashed to as short as 5/6.

"That's the price of success I guess", Garlick said, responding to a question posed over whether he was proud of Dyche attracting interest. Everton are the next step.
