Both handsets will be available in Black and Silver colour options starting November 10 on all Sony Center and major mobile stores across India, along with e-commerce portals, Amazon and Flipkart. Internally, they are powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 430 chipset, which is an entry-level octa-core chip found in other smartphones such as Motorola Moto G5S, Nokia 6, Nokia 5, Xiaomi Redmi 3s, Lenovo K6 Power. The front shooter is 8MP with 76-degree wide-angle.

Sony Xperia R1 Plus features a 13MP Exmor Sony sensor at the back with auto-focus and LED Flash.

Both the smartphones are essentially identical, with the only difference being the RAM and storage capacities. On the battery front, the Sony Xperia R1 comes packed with a powerful 2,620mAh built-in battery. Sony Xperia R1 and R1 Plus measure 146x73.2x8.8mm and weighs 154 grams. While the former comes with 16GB internal storage coupled with 2GB RAM, the latter offers 32GB internal storage and 3GB RAM.

Apart from that, both of them comes with a 5.2-inch HD LCD display, they are powered by a Snapdragon 430 chipset and are now running on Android Nougat 7.0, although the company claims that will receive the Android Oreo update pretty soon. Also included is dual-SIM support, FM radio, USB Type-C, and Bluetooth 4.2. It also features a proximity sensor, accelerometer, ambient light sensor and a gyroscope.

Moving on to the little larger Sony Xperia R1 Plus, the device flaunts a 5.2-inch HD display with screen resolution of 1280 × 720 pixels and offers a borderless edge-to-edge design. The UDC is said help users download web pages up to 50 per cent faster, thanks to an improved data transmission.

The Sony Xperia R1 and R1 Plus feature a 13MP rear camera with LED flash and hybrid autofocus technology. The Sony Experia R1 Plus also has the same cameras, battery capacity and connectivity options.
