Porsche 718 Cayman GTS and Boxster GTS revealed with 361bhp

After a long wait, the new 2018 Porsche 718 Boxster GTS and 718 Cayman GTS are finally making their debuts, to the great pleasure of vehicle buyers looking for a convertible or coupe that's less pricy than the 911, but still racier and sportier than a 718 base model.

Extra power has been found by optimising the all-important turbocharger and developing a new air intake manifold.

However, the auto manufacturer already sells the standard 718 Cayman and Boxster with a 2.0-litre turbocharged four-cylinder engine with 300hp of power.

Porsche India has not yet confirmed as to when these model will be available in the country.

The 718 Cayman and Boxster GTS takes 3.9 seconds to reach 100 kmph and has a top speed of 290 kmph.

The increased reserves are channelled through a standard six-speed manual gearbox or optional seven-speed dual clutch automatic via a mechanical rear differential and electronically controlled torque vectoring function to the rear wheels.

For such a thoroughbred sports vehicle, fuel economy of 34.4mpg and Carbon dioxide emissions of 186g/km are also quite respectable.

For example, the 718 GTS models will come standard with the Sport Chrono package, a throaty sport exhaust, and black 20-inch Carrera S wheels. There are also black GTS badges at the base of the doors, standard 20in alloy wheels painted in a black satin finish and a 10mm reduction in ride height as part of the chassis changes brought on by the adoption of Porsche's Active Suspension Management system as standard equipment. The company has also equipped the models with the Sport Chrono package with Porsche Track Precision App helps the driver to record lap times and videos directly from their smartphone.

Canadian availability has not been announced yet, but the 718 Cayman and Boxster GTS are expected to begin hitting USA dealers in March 2018. New owners will get the chance to attend Porsche's Experience Centre at Silverstone to hone their high-speed driving skills and the first GTS deliveries should happen in December.
