Bomb Kills Pakistani Troops in Kurram

Pakistan's army says a roadside bomb near the Afghan border has killed four soldiers and wounded three others.

It said the personnel were carrying out search operation to arrest those involved in the kidnapping of a Canadian-American couple when the explosive device went off.

The Canadian family was rescued by the security forces in Kurram Agency near Pak-Afghan border a few days back.

The security forces rushed to the site and cordoned off the entire area and started a search operation, officials said.

"We are deeply saddened by yesterday's attack on Pakistani military and Frontier Corps personnel in Kurram Agency, which resulted in the deaths of four personnel and injury of three personnel", the statement quoted Ambassador David Hale as saying.

The bodies of the martyred officials were taken to a hospital to the agency's headquarters, Parachinar.

The other martyred are Sepoy Saeed Baz, Sepoy Qadir and Sepoy Jumma Gul.

Two intelligence officials said missiles fired from a suspected United States drone hit a compound in the Mukbal area near the Afghan border Monday evening.

Kurram Agency borders three provinces of Afghanistan and witnesses several cross-border attacks.
