Sublime New Aston Martin DB11 Volante Unveiled

The end result is a breathtakingly sleek and athletic form that perfectly expresses the DB11 Volante's character. It's good for 503 horsepower, and is paired with an 8-speed automatic transmission with paddle shifters, electric power steering, and a limited-slip differential with dynamic torque vectoring.

Well, Aston Martin has just revealed the eagerly-awaited DB11 Volante, an open top version of the DB11 Coupe, and looks absolutely menacing. This 8-layer roof folds into what Aston Martin is calling a "class-leading stack height", and it takes just 14 seconds to lower and 16 seconds to close.

The 2018 Aston Martin DB11 Volante has been officially revealed as the company confirmed the specifications of the model and how it differs from the existing variants.

Built on the same aluminum bonded structure, the Volante is created to be lighter and sportier than its somewhat plodding predecessor.

Aston says the convertible DB11 can be personalised by drivers, thanks to the three roof colour options - red, black or grey - as well as seat veneer panels and other options.

Fancy one? The DB11 Volante will start at £159,000 ($216,495 USD).

Creature comforts include a heated steering wheel encourage all-season open-air motoring and rear seat ISOFIX child seat attachment points - a first for a Volante model.

Aston Martin's exhaustive testing procedures pushed this all-new roof mechanism to punishing extremes. It can be operated both from inside the cabin and remotely, from the key fob, and the automaker says that its new folding mechanism makes for a 20-percent larger trunk than the old DB9 Volante this vehicle replaces.

Max Szwaj, Aston Martin Chief Technical Officer, adds, "With the DB11 Volante we have maximised the advantages of the DB11's all-new bonded structure to underpin our new Volante with a structure that's 26kg lighter and 5 per cent stiffer than its predecessor".

So when Aston Martin dropped the top of its super-svelte DB11 coupé, everybody expected the latest recipient of the Volante badge would be simply drop-dead gorgeous.
