Australian Mom Wrestles Shark Back into Ocean With Her Bare Hands

Hatheier's daughter, Shannon, captured the daring save on video, showing the real estate agent using her bare hands and picking up the shark and safely placing it over the divider.

The clip was captioned, "Our in house Shark Wrangler Melissa Hatheier wrestling a shark out of Oak Park Rock Pool yesterday morning!"

She chose to take matters into own hands to save Port Jackson shark, choosing to simply pick it up and throw it back in the ocean. The shark is at least a metre long and looks pretty heavy, but doesn't seem to faze Hatheier, who can be seen matter-of-factly scooping it up and returning it to more appropriate waters. So I said, 'I think I can just grab him.' So I herded him into the shallows and then I just sort of got on my knees.

'She identified the shark first then she obviously knew to turn it over and it's harmless.

Ms Hatheier said she suspected the shark had become stranded in the sea-adjoining pool at high tide.

"I wouldn't have done it with a great white", she said. "He's like a toddler, '" she said, according to news.com.au.

"I was just trying to catch a little shark", she said.

'This is hands down the most Australian thing I have ever seen, holy mackerel, ' wrote another. The incident happened at the Oak Park Rock Pool in the Sydney suburb of Cronulla.

The video posted on Cronulla Real Estate's Facebook page garnered over 100,000 views and 900 shares at the time of publishing this article.
