Women not allowed to fly home after plastic surgery leaves them unrecognisable

Three Chinese woman were detained in the airport after flying to South Korea to get plastic surgery.

The women had flown to South Korea during China's Golden Week - the national holiday where people are encouraged to take paid holidays.

According to reports, the photo was first posted on Weibo by Chinese TV presenter Jian Huahua on Sunday and has since been taken down.

The women - wrapped chin-to-dome in bandages - were barred from boarding a flight home at an airport in South Korea, detained and grilled by immigration officers. Jian even joked that their mothers wouldn't recognize them.

One netizen thought "they look so scary".

According to The Sun, the image has now been liked over 51.000 times and shared more than 23.000 times.

South Korea is famous for having some of the best plastic surgeons in the world and each year thousands of people flock to the country tog et the treatment.

It is now unclear whether or not the women have been allowed to return to China.

Post-surgery swelling and bandages put the three women in a hard situation during passport control, when South Korean officers could not identify the women by their IDs. Men are believed to make up about 15 per cent of the cosmetic surgery market. Alves told reporters at the time of the incident.

Going under the knife didn't go down really well for three Chinese women - in fact, it led to a nightmarish experience.
