Facebook India MD Umang Bedi resigns, Sandeep Bhushan is interim head

Soon after Bedi quits, the social media giant via an official statement announced that Sandeep Bhushan is now the interim managing director of Facebook. Facebook India, in a statement, said "Umang Bedi will be leaving his role at Facebook at the end of this year". "He has built a really strong team and business during his time with us, and we wish him all the best", Facebook said in a statement today.

Before joining Adobe, where he oversaw company's sales and marketing functions as well as outlined strategic partnerships and alliances in the South Asia region, Umang Bedi assumed leadership positions at Sun Microsystems, Symantec, and Intuit. Bhushan is a former Samsung IT and mobile business director.

At Facebook, Bedi's responsibility was to build and maintain strategic relationships with top clients and regional agencies in the country. The company didn't share who will be taking over Bedi's position after he has left the company. He is now developing strategies and partnerships for the social media platform. Over the months, Facebook has been scaling Express Wifi's reach in the country, returning it to more villages. The state-run telecommunications company BSNL will be serving as a partner Internet service provider in the project. This is the second high-level exit in a tech company in India.

Facebook which counted 142 million Monthly Active Users (MAS) as of March 2016, escalated to 201 MAS as of July, increasing over 50 million users in just the half of 2017.

Facebook India has also confirmed the development.
