Florida has new gator-themed uniform that are either incredible or ugly

Florida will do something it's never done before in Saturday's game against Texas A&M: It will take the field wearing a base layer uniform that's not blue, orange or white.

The helmet features the Gator head logo, the first time the school has used that on the helmet. The cleats are swamp green and covered in Gator print with chrome orange plates.

As the only Division I school in the country named the Gators, UF and Nike officials saw a unique opportunity that has been in the works for over two years. Might be time to re-visit the drawing board for them.

-The jersey will showcase a scaled pattern, with royal blue sleeves.

The whole uniform will utilize Nike's "Vapor Untouchable" technology, which the athletic apparel company's design director of National Football League and NCAA apparel Nate Retzlaff describes as creating a "shrink-wrap fit, resulting in fewer grab points for the opposing team".

The Gators (3-2, 3-1) will be without senior safety Nick Washington after he re-aggravated a shoulder injury in the team's 17-16 loss to LSU on Saturday. A swamp is hot and sticky and can be unsafe.

All told, Spurrier's teams went 68-5 at home during his 12 seasons.
