Murder of 4 women, guard rocks E Delhi

In a shocking incident, five persons were found dead inside a house in Mansarovar Park area of Shahdara district in New Delhi on Saturday morning.

Police said that a cupboard kept in the room where the women were found murdered, was ransacked, but nothing was found missing.

The deceased were identifed as Urmila Jindal, 82, and her daughters Sangeeta Gupta, 58, Nupur Jindal, 48, and Anjali Jindal, 38.

The police were then called and the family members went upstairs to check on Urmila and her daughters.

It is suspected that the killings were carried out by contract killers hired by someone known to the family, an official privy to the probe said. Even though the motive behind the murder is yet to be ascertained, sources claim that the multiple killings took place over an alleged property dispute. "We are investigating every possible angle of the case", Special Commissioner of Police S.B.K. Singh said. At the time of the incident on the mill premises, seven families-around 40 members-were sleeping.

"The killers then entered the first floor and murdered the four women who were all sleeping in one room". All five had their throats slit. Police suspect that some labourers could be behind the crime. "Two of them were unmarried and one was a widow", the DCP said. The guard has been identified as Rakesh, 42, IANS reported. They informed the police. "They looked like a happy family", said a family friend.

According to a media report, a sharp weapon has also been recovered from the spot.

Four of the deceased belonged to the same family.
