Xbox One X hides a tiny Master Chief inside

This is presumably because the Xbox One X was developed under the working title of "Scorpio" and Master Chief is the de facto mascot of the Xbox brand. Fans of the "Halo" series, however, are hoping that they will soon see more of the iconic character, but not as an easter egg.

Is it something tucked away in hardware or code?

Inside every Xbox One X console is a tiny Master Chief riding a scorpion, although you'll have to void the warranty to see it.

If you want to check if the 4K patch has been installed, just see the latest upgrades uploaded or go to the FM7 management tab which still weighs 95GB. The image is on the console's circuit board, which means you'll have to crack open the Xbox - or find yourself with a cracked-open Xbox - before it's visible. This is like paying a homage to both Master Chief and Xbox One X codename Project Scorpio. A comfortable way that will allow Xbox Insiders to download all 4K assets in advance, getting ready to play on Xbox One X all titles now supported.
