Wenger speaks on Barcelona joining Premier League

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has called upon Alex Iwobi to find more consistency to his game and contribute 20 goals and assists this season.

Brighton became the 45th side to be beaten by Wenger as the manager.

Asked what he had learned in that time, he replied: 'I'd say humility'.

'Last year after six games Man City was top with 18 points. "They were outstanding yesterday but it's a long road to go".

Iwobi said: "I wouldn't say it was comfortable but we made it as easy as we could have done". They provisionally hold the fifth position in the standings with 13 points on goal differential behind defending champions Chelsea.

'When you are 21 years somewhere you know that you have good and bad moments.

The Frenchman said: "He's the kind of player who has good availability".

"I wouldn't like too much to reflect on that", added the 67-year-old, who nearly left the club in the summer.

It was Nacho Monreal who scored a rare goal in the 16th minute to put the Gunners ahead and while Solly March came very close to restoring parity in the 23rd minute, it was not to be.

Wenger will also be happy that his side have managed to keep five clean sheets during this run; especially after he watched his team ship eight goals in their opening three Premier League fixtures.

"Our focus and patience in the game was a bit in and out. You have to remain concentrated for the whole 90 minutes here, we just needed to make more of the good areas that we'd got ourselves in to". We got what we wanted and just before the break. Wenger admitted he would be sleeping better during the forthcoming worldwide fixtures than he did during the last lot, which came straight after the Anfield horror show.

Brighton boss Chris Hughton said: "It's always going to be hard when you are a newly-promoted team up against a side with so much quality".

"It was a spirited performance", he said. Every fan has the right to show if they're not happy but as players I think we've shown the way and they are supporting us everywhere we go.
