The Live-Action Sonic The Hedgehog Movie Is Speeding Up Once Again

Paramount Pictures have grabbed the rights for the upcoming Sonic the Hedgehog movie. The film was originally being made by Sony Entertainment, but after thing soured, it was picked up by Paramount Pictures. One of those films that has been on everyone's radar within the last two years has been the announcement of an untitled Sonic the Hedgehog adaptation. The studio took over Sonic after Sony let the film rights lapse.

The Sonic the Hedgehog movie has just entered pre-production, and has yet to receive an official release date. Though he was first introduced in a massively popular video game series, the titular character and his friends have also appeared in multiple television shows too. Sonic quickly sped to the top of the video game icon list, celebrating his 25th anniversary past year.

The "Sonic the Hedgehog" movie will be a mix of CGI animation and live action. The highest grossing video game movie of all time is Lara Croft: Tomb Raider ($131,168,070) which came out in June of 2001. What do you want to see from a Sonic film? Paramount has bought the rights to the film and brought along most of the crew that was already working on the film, key among them being Deadpool director Tim Miller. I don't know much about Fowler, whose biggest credit is the 2005 Oscar-nominated animated short Gopher Broke that he wrote and directed. No further details on the plot were available. At the time, the film was scheduled to make its release in 2018.
