Titans taking it 'day by day' with Marcus Mariota

The Tennessee Titans worked out Brandon Weeden, Matt Barkley, Matt McGloin and T.J. Yates with Marcus Mariota day-to-day with a hamstring injury. Mularkey said there's a possibility the Titans won't know about Mariota's availability until late in the week, possibly as late as Sunday. Should Mariota miss any time, the team's attack will take on a very different shape while being run by a 35-year old backup quarterback in Matt Cassel, who has as many rushing touchdowns (5) in his 13-year National Football League career as Mariota in less than three full seasons as a pro. In 2015 Cassel started in eight of the 10 games he appeared in. The 6-foot-3 Weeden has thrown for 6,452 yards with 31 touchdowns and 30 interceptions.

To make room on the 53-man roster, the Titans have waived linebacker Josh Carraway, a seventh round pick out of TCU who has been inactive the first four games. The only other quarterback in the organization prior to Weeden's addition is undrafted rookie Tyler Ferguson on the practice squad.

Mariota was injured in Tennessee's 57-14 loss in Houston and missed the bulk of the second half after leaving the game with a hamstring injury. He also returned punts and kicks at the school.
