Project Neptune: the sexy submarine from Aston Martin

It's anchors away at Aston Martin as the luxury auto manufacturer sets a course for the prestige submarine market.

Aston Martin Consulting, an offshoot of the Aston Martin automotive design studio has designed a submarine that will actually be built in a strictly limited number for wealthy customers to hang off the back of their super yachts. Aston Martin, which revealed a concept design for the three-person submarine, is looking for Neptune to expand the auto brand into new high-end products.

"Project Neptune is defined by its sleek, elegant exterior", says Aston Martin Chief Creative Officer, Marek Reichman. Now get your Speedos and scuba gear on. While we know that the submarine will be targeted at "researchers, explorers and superyacht owners", we don't have any idea of what it will be capable of.

The surprise collaboration between Aston Martin and Trident Submarines comes just days after the British marque made a notable partnership with the Red Bull Racing Formula One team as the Austrian constructor's title sponsor from next season onwards.

Doing a little comparison between the initial Project Neptune renderings and Triton's regular line-up shows that Aston Martin's sports vehicle design and craftsmanship expertise is extending into the world of submarines quite well.

It's not the first time Aston Martin has taken to the water.

Aston Martin is a British luxury sports vehicle company and Triton Submarines of Vero Beach, Fla., is a top civil submarine manufacturer. Based in Gaydon, England, Aston Martin designs and creates sports cars which are sold in more than 50 countries around the world.

Triton Submarines LLC of Vero Beach, Florida is the most experienced civil submarine and submersible manufacturer in the world.
