Trump says London explosion was attack by 'loser terrorist'

US President Donald Trump used the London explosion to call for an expanded travel ban, a lighter version of which now prevents visitors from six Muslim-majority nations from entering the country.

Donald Trump tweeted: 'Another attack in London by a loser terrorist. These are sick and demented people who were in the sights of Scotland Yard.

US President Donald Trump has tweeted that terrorists' internet should be "cut off" and "use [d] better" in the wake of an explosion in London that saw dozens injured.

"The travel ban into the United States should be far larger, tougher and more specific-but stupidly, that would not be politically correct!" he posted.

The version of the ban permitted by the Supreme Court is Trump's second pass at the policy, which originally banned residents of seven Muslim-majority countries.

Her former chief of staff, Nick Timothy, went further, describing Trump's comment as "so unhelpful from leader of our ally and intelligence partner".

Mr Trump said he told Mrs May the USA is committed to wiping out terrorism and described her as a "wonderful woman". Police said the explosion was a terrorist attack, the fifth in Britain this year. And we have to be very smart and we have to be very, very tough, which perhaps were not almost tough enough.

The London bomb exploded on a packed train during morning rush hour Friday, leaving at least 29 people injured but no one with life-threatening injuries.

Meanwhile today, when Trump called the terrorist incident in London as another attack "by a loser terrorist", May rebuked him by asking not to "speculate".

Scotland Yard say it was a terror attack but could not confirm claims there is another device and the suspect is on the run - but an officer at the scene told MailOnline: 'We believe there is a second bomb - there is a man with knives on the loose'.

Trump similarly referred to his travel ban back in June immediately after news reports surfaced about the London Bridge terror attacks.

Trump, speaking at the White House later Friday morning, called the attack a "terrible thing". Must be proactive & nasty!' "We need the Travel Ban as an extra level of safety!" The 90-day travel ban on visitors from Iran, Libya, Somalia, Sudan, Syria and Yemen lapses in late September, and the 120-day refugee ban will expire a month later.
