Nike's 'NBA Connected' jerseys tap into the game with NFC tags

The new Pistons uniforms are similar to the chrome-colored grey jerseys from last season - which they'll replace - but they've added more of the electric blue with red on each side.

On Friday evening, the team's official Twitter account posted photos of the new look black jerseys called the "Statement Edition" jerseys.

The new uniforms will be worn for the first time on November 24, when the team takes on the Charlotte Hornets in Cleveland.

The "Statement" jersey is inspired by each squad's decision to "make bold statements" with their designs.

Nike unveiled the new uni's in grand fashion as they invited one player from each team to model their respective cities.

One of the world's biggest athletic apparel companies will soon have a plethora of data about customers who bought their NBA jerseys at their disposal thanks to Nike NBA smart jerseys. You might notice that some of the teams have the same jersey as previous years, but there are some significant changes to the 76ers, Pacers, and a few others. However, one of the more interesting announcement was Nike's new NBA Connected Jersey, which fans can buy.

At the event, Nike had a representative player from every team come out in a hoodie to hide the new jerseys. On that app, which will be available to owners of an iPhone 7 or an Android device with NFC capability, fans will be able to watch highlights of the player whose jersey they own as well as receive shoe deals.

Instead of always wearing the white uniform, home teams this season will get to choose which of their jerseys they wear for a given game.
