Will Hurricane Jose hit the USA? Latest track and United States forecast

The much talked about Hurricane Jose was supposed to follow Irma's path and cause destruction to the already ravaged Caribbean. In the image, Jose appeared somewhat elongated as a result of vertical wind shear affecting the storm.

Because Hurricane Jose is so far from land, the National Hurricane Center has issued no watches or warnings yet. The storm is expected to take a turn to the southeast and south at a slow forward speed over the next couple of days. It's a category 1 hurricane with winds of 75 miles per hour and, because of wind shear, may weaken to a tropical storm later Tuesday.

KKFX My Fox 11 tweeted: "Don't rest easy yet, though... that forecast can (and will) change many times before next Monday". The estimated minimum central pressure is 985 millibars.

The future path of Jose after it makes its stalling loop in the western Atlantic remains uncertain, but we will continue to monitor it for any potential USA impact.

Hurricane Jose was a little weaker Tuesday morning (Sept. 12) as it began turning east in the Atlantic, the National Hurricane Center said.

Swells generated by Jose and Irma will continue to affect the U.S. East Coast, leading to risky rip current conditions this week. It's expected to circulate around that area for the next few days before moving.
