Rahul Gandhi adds to long list of gaffes

"Mr Ambani [is also a dynast].am trying to change it in Congress party", Gandhi had said.

"India's Prime Minister - Narendra Modi - is a man who has risen from a humble background, as have the President the Vice President".

Dismissing the criticism by Mr Gandhi, Mr Prasad questioned, "Is Mr Gandhi's compliment the yardstick for the functioning of the government".

"Passing remarks on Prime Minister Modi is not new for Rahul Gandhi", said Smriti Irani adding, "However, Rahul Gandhi must not forget that the nation has put its faith in our Prime Minister", she added.

"He (Gandhi) forgot the voters are Indians - not global audience", added the minister.

"Somewhere around 2012, and I say this, a certain arrogance crept into the Congress party".

"A failed dynast today chose to speak about his failed political journeys in US", she said.

"But the way our party works, we have an organisational election process that decides that, and that process is now ongoing".

While interacting with the media, Congress leader, Anand Sharma, said: "It is the present Prime Minister who is guilty of insulting India on foreign soil".

Rahul's address at UC Berkeley is a part of his two-day visit to the United States where he is meeting global thinkers, political leaders, and overseas Indians. "What I sense is he doesn't converse with the people he works with... members of Parliament and the BJP tell me that", Rahul said.

Speaking to ANI, the Minister of State in Prime Minister's Office, Jitendra Singh said the BJP-led government both at the Centre and in the state has taken upon itself a "herculean task" of restoring normalcy in the state.

Gandhi a failed leader whom nobody listens to in India, Shah suggestively said.

"That's a decision that the Congress Party has to make and that's a process that's currently going on right now", he said.

Gandhi, who is presently in the U.S. for couple of weeks, said there are several instances of the dynasty problems in the country so he can't alone be held responsible for it. "I am absolutely ready for that, but our party works according to organisational elections", he added. "She even modifies the fact", he said.

In fact, Rahul raising this issue of disconnect with the masses is crucial considering how Congress workers have often accused the high command for entirely depending on senior regional leaders for feedback while ignoring the voices from the grassroots level.

But Gandhi conceded Modi was a better communicator than him. "This shows that India is not dynastic in nature", she added.

Calling Rahul a failed dynast, Smriti said "A failed dynast today chose to speak about his failed political journeys in USA".
