Barcelona midfielder Sergi Roberto is not for sale and the club do not fear losing him despite interest from Manchester United and Chelsea, sources have told ESPN FC.

The Sun's Jake Lambourne cited the Express and reported Chelsea will launch a move for Bale next summer and hope their relations with Los Blancos are strong after this summer's acquisition of striker Alvaro Morata.

The player being fought over is Sergi Roberto. Luis Enrique was in dire need of a right-back since the departure of Dani Alves, especially with Aleix Vidal failing to impress the manager.

The Chelsea preferred XI of last season started at least 26 league games each and eight of them began 30 games or more.

Roberto played a midfield role in each preseason friendly and has voiced his desire to make a permanent switch back into the middle of the pitch.

Having missed out on Tottenham Hotspur's Eric Dier, Roberto is reportedly the next target as his future at the Catalan club is supposedly uncertain under manager Ernesto Valverde.

The Red Devils are looking for further reinforcements and Sergi Roberto could be an ideal player with the ability to play both as a midfielder and now as a right-back as well.

Less than a week before the Premier League season restarts, Man United and Chelsea are again going head to head as the clubs battle to sign a Barcelona star.

Mundo Deportivo reported that United have made a bid for the Spain worldwide, while sources told ESPN FC last month that he was also a Chelsea target.
