He is seeking at least $3 million in damages.

Attorneys for Swift, one of the most powerful celebrities in the world, argued in opening statements that Mueller was using her notoriety and fame for his own gain. She is expected to take the stand during the trial in US District Court in order to testify about the incident.

On Monday, Swift reportedly attended the jury selection for the case in a courtroom in Denver, Colorado.

The superstar alleges that David Mueller groped her during a meet-and-greet in Denver in 2013.

The civil lawsuit centers on Swift's allegation that former KYGO morning show host David Mueller, known professionally as "Jackson", inappropriately touched her during a June 2013 meet-and-greet at Denver's Pepsi Center arena.

The Colorado radio personality sued, claiming Swift falsely accused him of the groping and pressured station management to fire him from his $150,000-a-year job.

USA music artist Taylor Swift is expected to testify in court about her claim that she was sexually assaulted during a 2013 backstage meet and greet.

Lawyers from both sides can suggest the amount of any damages, she said.

His lawsuit denies anything inappropriate occurred during the brief backstage encounter in which he and his girlfriend stood on either side of the pop star.

Martinez will allow Bayard de Volo to testify why Swift might have waited to report Mueller's alleged assault, but she will not be allowed to talk about why she believed Mueller might be prone to commit an assault because his masculinity had been threatened due to anxiety with his job.

Opened arguments were expected by Tuesday afternoon. "Swift or put his hand under her skirt". Swift is seeking just $1 (77p), using the trial "an example to other women who may resist publicly reliving similar outrageous and humiliating acts".

One man was dismissed from the group after expressing a bias against Swift, telling the court, "She seems petty and spiteful".

There are also questions about whether jurors were fans of Mueller on local country radio station KYGO.

If you did not know about this, the artist sued David Mueller in October 2015 because the DJ has allegedly attempted to grope her and he even placed his hand under her dress during a photo shoot, right before a concert.

The DJ added that he had met "hundreds of celebrities" in the past but had never been accused of physical misconduct; and accused a co-worker of being the one who groped Swift.

In addition to Swift, Mueller named her mother and a member of her team as defendants in the lawsuit. She is also a defendant in Mueller's case.
