Lallana injury a big blow to Liverpool hopes of making early statement

Premier League giants Liverpool have been hit with a severe blow ahead of the start of the new League season following the injury of star player Adam Lallana.

Instead of heading back down the tunnel after the 90 minutes were up, however, manager Jurgen Klopp and his players spent time visiting each corner of the ground to meet some of the 51,333 fans in attendance - signing autographs and taking selfies.

"It's a wonderful region", Klopp told his club's official website of the part of Germany that the Reds will visit on 15 or 16 August for the first leg at the Wirsol Rhein-Neckar-Arena.

The Liverpool boss said: "Until the 31st of August we run through the world with open eyes".

Klopp was in Munich for the Audi Cup pre-season tournament. Alberto Moreno is 100% back which is really nice after a hard year.

"Andy Robertson has shown all the skills he's got".

Klopp has a mixed record versus Hoffenheim - winning five, drawing six and losing five of the 16 games with them while he was in charge of Mainz and Borussia Dortmund - but Liverpool have fared well, progressing from 14 of 16 two-legged knockout ties against German opposition.

"That means that Millie (James Milner) is free to play in midfield".

"I was really touched by the atmosphere, to be honest", Klopp said, in his post-match press conference.

The Reds grabbed the lead early on thanks to a penalty won and converted by Roberto Firmino before Inaki Williams brought the sides level on the half-hour mark.

Welsh forward Ben Woodburn struck in the second half against the Spaniards and set up Liverpool's third goal by Dominic Solanke.

The strike of Woodburn, still just 17 years old, was particularly impressive.

With Alberto Moreno badly at fault with a freakish attempt at a clearance, Williams was let in with time to turn in the penalty area, and made no mistake with an ice cool finish low into the far corner.
