Calvert-Lewin fires Everton into UEL play-off round

Everton boss Ronald Koeman gave a debut to £30m goalkeeper Jordan Pickford.

Calvert-Lewin was Everton's hero yesterday, as he scored their victor in Europa League qualifying.

Calvert-Lewin only made 11 appearances in the Premier League last summer however he could now get more of a chance after his impressive displays.

Calvert-Lewin latched on to Davy Klaassen's through ball, before finishing well, to send Everton through to the next round with a 1-0 win over Ružomberok in Slovakia.

Some also saw the amusing side, but others made more serious points, urging Koeman to use Calvert-Lewin as an out-and-out striker.

"We had a lot of space in the first-half for Michael Keane and you need to dribble in and create more than we did".

The Dutch side were undone by their inability to score over two legs as Petar Bockaj's 25th minute goal put the Croatian club through 2-0 on aggregate.

"He is one of our young players".

When asked if Kenny would be sent out on loan this season, Koeman has now said, "We know that we have several options for his position with Mason Holgate, with Cuco Martina and Kenny - and, finally, the best will play". It's all about training and performances.

Calvert-Lewin replaced Sandro on 69 minutes and nearly immediately created a chance before being dispossessed by the last defender.
