Samsung officially launches the Flip phone in China

Well, the South Korean giant has finally launched its much awaited Flip Phone in Chinese market.

The new phone - Leader is a device which is a major upgrade over the Samsung's W2017 flip phone, especially on the camera and processor front. Like its predecessors, the phone is meant as a luxury take on the clamshell form factor, getting fitted in aviation-grade aluminum alloy in black and gold colors.

As is usually the case for these unique phones, don't expect the Leader 8 to be sold in North America. The company did not make a huge announcement for the Leader 8, but the product's page on its Chinese Samsung website lists the full specs of the device. This model is believed to be a mid-range device that comes with a quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 425 processor, hooked to 2GB of RAM and 16GB of internal storage.

The Leader 8 is certainly an interesting breed, and the more I read and learn about the phone, the more interested I become in it. It sports two 4.2-inch Super AMOLED displays with Full HD resolution and is powered by the Snapdragon 821 chipset.

As per as its cameras are concerned, it has a 12 MP primary camera with an f/1.7 aperture. The devices come with 4.2-inch dual displays, which flips over one another.

5-megapixel front facing camera with f/1.9 aperture. You'll also get a 2,300mAh battery that supports wireless charging. It also features a hotkey that can be configured according to preference of the user.

The 4G Android phone supports Samsung Pay, Secure Folder, and S Voice. The clamshell phone measures 130.2 x 62.6 x 15.9 mm and its weight is 235 grams.

As of this writing, it seems that the smartphone may not be available outside of China. There is no information available on the pricing and release date of Samsung SM-G9298.
