Two militants killed in encounter in south Kashmir's Tral, operation underway

Three militants were killed in a gun-battle with forces on Saturday at Satoora forest area of Tral.

The two locals have been identified as Mukhtar Ahmad Lone alias Gazi Umer, a resident of Amirabad Tral, and Parvaiz Ahmad Mir, a resident of Pahoo Pulwama, the spokesman said. The security forces have also recovered some arms and ammunition. The police officer said the search operation was launched on information about the presence of some militants. He said the identification of the slain militants is being ascertained. The exact outfit is not known but most probably they are foreign militants.

The officials have still not removed the bodies of the two terrorists who were killed in the encounter, a police official told PTI.

Indian forces, in a fresh act of state terrorism, on Saturday, martyred three Kashmiri youth in Tral town, reported Kashmir Media Service. More than 100 militants have been killed so far this year, which is highest in the last eight years.

The Army pressed helicopters into service to maintain surveillance on the militants' movement and drop para-commandos in the hard terrain to take on the terrorists.
