Driver survives being crushed by 7000-pound pipe

Sometimes you look at pictures or video of a auto crash and you just have to assume the worst, but despite what it looks like, a man miraculously survived after a truck carrying scrap metal overturned and dropped a huge chunk of metal on his head.

The truck driver lost control, plowed into a guardrail, and then overturned.

A Florida man survived with only minor injuries when a 7,000-pound metal pipe fell from a crashed truck and crushed the roof of his van.

Amazingly, the van's driver suffered only minor injuries. "He had no idea". It came down right in the middle of his van.

Escobar, of Orlando, was driving a 2003 Pontiac van.

Troopers say the ramp from westbound State Road 528 to westbound I-4 will be closed for several hours as the debris is cleared from the road.

The man, Antonio Santiago Wharton, 33, of Kissimmee, Fla., survived the crash with minor scrapes, Florida Today reported.

The truck driver was charged with careless driving, according to the FHP release.
