Canadian PM Justin Trudeau meets Syrian baby named after him

Thanks to his generous immigration policies that have allowed the settlement of thousands of Syrian refugees in Canada, Justin Trudeau has been honoured by a number of Syrian-Canadian families who've named their babies after him. In their effort to thank the Canadian prime minister, for permitting Syrian refugees in the country, the couple named their newborn baby after him.

On the margins of his participation at the National Governors Association meeting, Prime Minister Justin Trudeau met today with Scott Walker, Governor of Wisconsin.

Initially, the Prime Minister's Office had announced Trudeau was too busy and would not be able to fit the Stampede, which wraps up Sunday, into his schedule. The younger Justin was born in May to a Syrian family who arrived in Canada past year.

"It was actually very good, it was unbelievable". The country welcomed 163 Syrian refugees in December 2015, and till now more than 40,000 refugees took shelter.

"My husband says 'How about if we name the boy Justin-Trudeau, like him, '" his mom recounted to CBC after the boy was born in May. However, the government came under further criticisms for not providing enough services.

Doso, a Syrian father in Red Deer, named his own son Justin. While speaking past year, Canada's minister for immigration, refugees and citizenship John McCallum had said that the government raised funding for language training to address shortages.
