Alia and Katrina pretend to be Disney princesses at IIFA 2017

Music maestro AR Rahman was honoured with a special award for completing 25 years in the industry.

His "Udta Punjab" co-actress, Alia Bhatt won the Best Actor (Female) Award for the film and both recorded a boomerang. He was awarded for a brilliant performance in Neerja.

If it weren't for the heavy downpours that besieged New York City, we wouldn't have been surprised if Alia Bhatt, Katrina Kaif and their ilk turned up in chariots and full regalia to complement their princess-ready ballgowns at the IIFA 2017 awards.

Not only the duo, but the third actor in the movie Diljit Dosanjh also won the Best Debutant male award for the same movie Udta Punjab. The actor swept back home the Best Actor Award for his phenomenal performance as Tommy Singh in the highly controversial film 'Udta Punjab'. The best actor in a comic role went to Varun Dhawan for "Dishoom", Alia Bhatt picked up a second trophy for Mystra Style Icon, and IIFA named Taapsee Pannu their woman of the year.

The MS Dhoni: The Untold Story star, on the other hand, said, "I have been performing in songs with Kriti for a while now but on stage, yes, for the first time".

The music category saw Pritam winning the Best Music Direction for "Ae Dil Hai Mushkil", and Amitabh Bhattacharya bagging the Best Lyrics accolade for "Channa mereya".

"Raabta" actors Sushant and Kriti performed on retro tracks, while Varun paid a tribute to his father David Dhawan by grooving to his chartbusters.

Styled by Tanya Ghavri, Katrina Kaif donned a powder blue Ziad Nakad gown and accessorized her look with a statement ring from Nirav Modi Jewels and earrings from John Hardy Jewellery rounding the minimal makeup with her hair styled sleek and left open.

But the best was kept for the last as Salman Khan took to the stage for the finale performance and danced on "Radio" and "Main hoon hero".
