Lazio close in on Liverpool stalwart to replace Biglia

Lazio are looking for a solid replacement of Lucas Biglia who made his move to Milan and in Lucas Leiva, they could get a like for like replacement.

Gianluca Di Marzio revealed a deal is done for Lucas to make the move to the Stadio Olimpico this summer.

The Brazilian, now the longest servant of Liverpool Football Club, has played 346 games for Liverpool, including 247 in the Premier League.

Liverpool have agreed the sale of midfielder Lucas Leiva to Lazio for £5 million.

This was followed this morning by a pair of photos of the midfielder completing his medical.

Lucas has been on the books of Liverpool since 2007 and remains an important part of the Merseyside outfit.

"Lucas Leiva is a great player with a lot of experience", Lulic told Mediaset Premium.

Lazio's interest could mean the Brazilian being pulled out of Friday night's friendly clash with Wigan.

But he was made the scapegoat as Liverpool struggled and finished the season in seventh place - and was even booed at Anfield.

"We can only involve 25 players, so if we take three goalkeepers we can only take 22 [outfield players]".

While he might not have been the first player on the team sheet, he does hold some importance in the squad exclusively due to his abundance of experience.
