Facebook Is Reportedly Testing a GIF maker on iOS

They can even add all of the photo effects and frames that Facebook has made available in the app to the GIF that they create.

The Next Web has reported that the feature is only available to a small group of people at present but will be rolled out globally over the next few months. These new filters together with the GIF creating feature can offer a complete camera experience to the users and prove a big threat to Snapchat which is known for its filters and camera abilities. The GIF Mode will record sequences of images for a few seconds, and then deliver them as GIFs.

Facebook frequently tests new features by rolling them out to a subset of its users, so there's no way to know whether or when this might be rolled out more widely.

First spotted by The NextWeb, you can now create GIFs by simply tapping the camera icon given in the top left of the camera app.

GIFs have just turned 30, so Facebook made a decision to honor them in a fun way for users.

However, you won't be able to use your creation under the same format outside Facebook.

There is no word yet on when the Facebook GIF maker will arrive to the app's Android version, but it will likely not take long. Unfortunately, Facebook doesn't allow users to share those GIFs to other platforms.
