IOF Kills Two Palestinians in Jenin

The two dead are the 38th and 39th Palestinians reported killed by the Israeli authorities this year.

A Palestinian driver who tried on Monday to run down and then stab Israeli soldiers near a settlement in the occupied West Bank was shot dead by the troops, the Israeli military said.

IDF soldiers who were operating in the refugee camp in Jenin early Wednesday morning were attacked by Palestinians and responded by opening fire.

"In response, forces shot towards attackers", the IDF was cited by Efe news as saying.

Military officials said they had received reports of a Palestinian killed in the firefight.

One of the two had been evacuated in serious condition and later succumbed to his wounds, medical sources said.

A third Palestinian was shot in the leg and is in moderate condition.

The army said details of the incident were under investigation.

Israel says at least 173 of those killed were carrying out attacks while others died in clashes and protests. The forces returned fire, killing, according to Palestinian sources, a resident later identified as Sa'ad Nasser Salah, 20. The IDF Spokesperson's Unit said that 18 of them are suspected of participating in terrorist activities and violent riots against civilians and security forces.

As the West Bank's most densely populated Palestinian city, Qalqiliya has been eagerly awaiting implementation of the Israeli plan that would allow it to double its size by expanding into land that has until now been off-limits.
