Palaniswami faction backs NDA nominee

Prime Minister Narendra Modi had sought support from Palaniswami with the Chief Minister having consultations yesterday with senior colleagues before deciding to support the NDA's nominee, Raju said.

A press release issued by the AIADMK headquarters here recalled the Prime Minister calling up palaniswami, who is also party headquarters Secretary, seeking support for Kovind and said the matter was discussed on Wednesday by the high command. "As the party has chose to support Kovind, there is no need for it to attend the meeting of Opposition parties being held in New delhi", said JD (U) spokesperson Rajiv Ranjan.

The meeting comes in the wake of Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar deciding with his party Janata Dal-United (JD-U) to support NDA Presidential nominee Ram Nath Kovind.

With possible support of JD (U), the vote share of NDA in the electoral college go up to nearly 63 per cent.

Responding to JD-U's decision to support Kovind, Kharge was quoted as saying, "Nitish Kumar's party JD-U's announcement to support Kovind is his decision".

Chennai: The All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam's (AIADMK) rival Puratchi Thalaivi Amma faction led by former Chief Minister O Panneerselvam on Thursday announced its support for NDA's Presidential nominee Ram Nath Kovind, voicing confidence that he will perform as a "good administrator". He communicated with the regional parties seeking their support for the NDA's nominee during the upcoming presidential election,"said Sarma, who heads the Neda, a vital alliance of non-Congress parties of the northeast". These words have been quoted by NDA candidate for President of India, Mr. Ram Nath Kovind to his nephew, which aptly can sum him as a man in question. When the defeat of the Opposition candidate is certain, they have fielded her as a scapegoat. (Bihar Chief Minister) Nitish Kumar has taken such a position, it is for him.
