Chelsea 'agree personal terms' with Monaco ace

Tiemou Bakayoko opted for a move to Chelsea over Manchester United because he wanted to work for Antonio Conte, according to L'Equipe.

Matic has been an important part of Chelsea's team since rejoining from Benfica for £21m. The duo enjoyed a close relationship during the Portuguese gaffer's second spell in charge at Stamford Bridge, and it's not surprising if he harbours hopes of working with Matic once more.

Could Matic and Pogba be teammates next season?

The Old Trafford side are to log a £42 million for Chelsea man Nemanja Matic.

Bakayoko has developed in to one of the best midfielders in French football since joining from Rennes three years ago and he played a starring role as the French outfit won their first Ligue 1 title since 2000.

Fabregas seemed the more likely to move on given his relatively sporadic nature of his Premier League appearances last season (in the early part of the campaign at least), and this is seen as an effort by Conte to placate the Spanish global by removing a competitor for that place next to N'Golo Kante in the midfield. As a result, a move away from West London is on the cards for the Serbia worldwide, and a possible reunion with Jose Mourinho is in the offing.

United had been keen to secure his signature.

Carrick, though, is fast approaching the end of his glittering career and can no long play week in week out. And now, Manchester United have taken a decisive step in landing the player, having agreed personal terms with him.
