Lonzo Ball's draft stock stays strong with Lakers watching

Although his father, the braggadocious LaVar Ball has garnered tremendous attention for his odd and oftentimes downright rude antics, it's simply time to focus on Lonzo the player and phase LaVar out of the picture.

That's been the dream scenario for the entire Ball family ever since Lonzo showed the first inklings of world-class talent. Both have met with the New York Knicks, who scored well two years ago when they went overseas with their pick of Latvian Kristaps Porzingis - to whom Markkanen has been compared as a 7-footer with perimeter shooting skills. "To me, he's the type of player that, when he's on the floor, all four guys that are out there with him become better instantly". If that playoff appearance happens in the coming season, which seems unlikely right now, then maybe LaVar Ball can be considered one clairvoyant basketball dad.

The Los Angeles Lakers finally landed their man. Lonzo's two brothers are LiAngelo and LaMelo.

"I patterned my game after (Johnson)", Ball said.

LaVar Ball, father of the UCLA star, made it clear early in the draft process that his son would remain in Los Angeles after starring with the Bruins as a freshman. "He obviously loves him, and that's what you want out of a father, so I'm not overly concerned with that". He was the conference's first player to average 14 points, six rebounds and seven assists per game since Kidd did it at California.

"I talked about that with coach Brad Stevens", Tatum said.

With all the tools that the Lakers have, Ball will have plenty of options when running the point.

Ball is one of those fans.

Fultz and Ball led a record-setting run of one-and-dones in the National Basketball Association draft, which received a jolt early in the first round when the Chicago Bulls traded Butler to the Minnesota Timberwolves. "They need a point guard, and I feel like I can fill that hole". "After they got the third pick, we tried to schedule something for me to get out there".
