Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Remastered Coming to PlayStation 4

"With Modern Warfare Remastered, we're able to relive our favorite campaign levels and multiplayer moments in full HD visuals and remastered audio". This re-release sports a handful of upgrades, including new higher resolution textures, lighting and rendering upgrades, enhanced sound effects, and a few quality of life upgrades. Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Remastered is indeed being released as a standalone game, and you can pick it up this coming Tuesday, June 27 on PlayStation 4.

MWR was originally released as a part of the Legacy or Digital Deluxe Editions of Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare, which launched in November 2016.

Other platforms will follow at a later date.

The announcement makes no mention of PC or Xbox One, though its debut image states that it will be available "first on PS4". The fact that Modern Warfare Remastered is going for $40 is surprising, since it essentially adds $20 to the price you could get that game as well as Infinite Warfare for at launch.

The confirmation comes after a source told Charlie Intel to expect Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Remastered to arrive in a standalone version later this month.

It's taken Activision more than eight moths to release a standalone version of Modern Warfare Remastered, but as the old adage goes, better late than never. As for what the game includes, you will find the campaign and a total of 16 player maps. Now, Activision is releasing the game as a standalone purchase. Will you be picking up Modern Warfare Remastered or has that ship already sailed for you? If you want the DLC maps, you'll have to pay more.
