Lawyer says Trump not under investigation

Cuba rejects Trump's criticism as "hostile" but seeks to maintain official ties even as U.S. rolls back some changes instituted by Obama. Trump appeared to acknowledge that he was a target of the probe when he tweeted about it.

Last week, Trump sent a tweet referring to being the victim of a "witch hunt".

Rasmussen said Friday its daily presidential tracking poll that 50% of likely USA voters approve of Trump's job performance, while the other 50% disapprove.

During his appearance on Fox News Sunday, things got pretty heated between Sekulow and host Chris Wallace as Wallace pushed back on the attorney's convoluted explanations about why Trump is not being investigated.

During an interview on CNN's "State of the Union" Sekulow explained to Jake Tapper that Trump wasn't able to clarify that he was referring to the Washington Post reports in his tweets because of the "limitation" Twitter has on characters used in a tweet.

The post was one of several news organizations that reported that Trump himself is being investigated on allegations of obstructing justice. The investigation concerns the circumstances around the May 9 firing of FBI Director James Comey.

Rubio says: "If it involved working with Americans, whether wittingly or unwittingly, that needs to be part of" the investigation.

Comey testified in Congress in March that the Federal Bureau of Investigation was looking at whether Trump's election campaign colluded with Russian agents.

He said, however, that Sekulow's comments could mean the White House was taking the position that no investigation exists until Mueller's team officially confirms it, disregarding any media reports based on anonymous sourcing.

Rep. Adam Schiff of California, the ranking Democrat on the House Intelligence Committee, accused Trump of attempting to take down Mueller just as his investigation is getting underway.

Separately, a former White House lawyer, who spoke on condition of anonymity, said there was nothing stopping Trump or his lawyers from asking Mueller whether Trump was under investigation.

President Donald Trump is not under investigation for obstruction of justice despite his tweet Friday that appeared to confirm he is, a member of his legal team said, doubling down on the point with appearances on almost every major Sunday TV talk show. "The president's response was as it related to The Washington Post report".

"I can say categorically that the collusion or cooperation aspect of the investigation is not over", the Maine senator told NBC's "Meet the Press", adding that the probe could be done by the end of 2017.

"The president is not under investigation by the special counsel", Sekulow told NBC's Chuck Todd.

The source familiar with the Mueller probe told Reuters that Mueller was also examining whether Trump or others tried to interfere with the investigation. He ticked through achievements such deregulation measures and the appointment of Supreme Court justice Neil Gorsuch, touted a job approval rating poll, and promised "Infrastructure, Healthcare and Tax Cuts in works!"

Trump advisers describe the president as increasingly angry over the investigation, yelling at television sets carrying coverage and insisting he is the target of a conspiracy.
