Victor Orta: 'Chris Wood likely to stay at Leeds United'

Leeds have seen defender Kyle Bartley leave the club following the expiry of his loan spell, while Alfonso Pedraza is another who has exited.

New Leeds United head coach Thomas Christiansen has ruled out bringing in players from his previous club APOEL, at present. Julio Banuelos will join as assistant manager, while Ivan Torres will take up the position of fitness coach and Marcos Abad will come in as goalkeeping coach. But I am very excited and believe we can do good things.

"I believe in my possibilities, this is why I'm here and why Leeds believe in me".

"Last year, we finished seventh, promotion should at least be a target". "We want the same thing, promotion".

Leeds were overly reliant on Chris Wood's goals last season and an addition attacking threat to take some of the pressure from the New Zealand global is believed to be a priority.

"I hope [Wood remains a Leeds player] but football nobody can say", Orta said.

"I have to be flexible, in previous teams I played 4-3-3 but when I went to Apoel and wanted to play the same I couldn't because I did not have the specific players, so I changed to 4-2-3-1-". This is why Leeds also believe in my abilities and we all want the same, to arrive in the best place at the end of the season.

"On the league, even though I am Spanish, I have followed the English league since I was a boy".

Having played some impressive football at times last season - they created 383 chances in the Championship - Leeds were ultimately left frustrated at how the season ended, but they will hope to fare better under Christiansen's guidance.

The new head coach will be given a "specific budget" for summer signings, Orta said, while Christiansen confirmed he had no plans at this stage to bring in new players from his former club and was happy with the squad he had inherited.
