University of Michigan coach to ask Obamas to be honorary football captains

Harbaugh has brought Tom Brady, Derek Jeter, Michael Jordan, Hank Aaron, Usher and even the Pope into the orbit of his football program, but he's not stopping there.

Michigan's head coach said Saturday during his annual quarterbacks camp in Ann Arbor that he plans making a formal offer to both Barack and Michelle Obama to be honorary football captains in 2017.

Of course, the political aspect here will have some fans upset, but any time you can get a former United States president on campus, it's probably an impressive move.

Harbaugh told reporters Saturday that the team voted for London, Paris and Normandy, France, for next year's trip.

MI head football coach Jim Harbaugh met with former President Barack Obama and First Lady Michelle Obama last week in Washington D.C. Harbaugh has made headline news with his sights set on Michelle and Barack Obama in these honorary positions, so unless the Obama husband and wife team have been trekking through Antartica, they know about Harbaugh's intentions. It was then that he dropped in on the former President.

"Well, we're going to ask", he said.

His son, Jay, who is the Wolverines' running backs coach, posted a picture of the visit on Instagram.

While visiting with Obama, Harbaugh said he got to see Michelle Obama too. "We had 39 wonderful minutes with president Obama and saw Mrs. Obama, as well". He was great. He was really relaxed, working on a lot of things, book and several things that he shared. He shared a lot of insights.
