Star player frustrated at Arsenal due to delay in contract talks

Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain could be about to personally hand Liverpool a boost in their pursuit of him by ending contract talks and seeking a move away from Arsenal.

However the Premier League side are yet to formally offer him a new deal.

Chamberlain has always been linked with a move away from the Emirates, with the English worldwide reportedly becoming increasingly frustrated with the club's lack of urgency to renew his contract, set to expire next summer.

Liverpool are said to be "long-term" admirers of Oxlade-Chamberlain but City and Chelsea are also said to be "keen" on the midfielder.

The paper says that the 23-year-old has been mulling over his future on holiday and he's come to the conclusion that "a move would be best if he is to deliver on his rich potential".

The lack of movement comes as a major shock given Oxlade-Chamberlain only has 12 months left on his deal.

The winger ended last season playing as a wing-back for Arsenal, something which is thought to have impressed Chelsea boss Antonio Conte.

Despite making 45 appearances for the Gunners last season in all competitions, it appears the Gunners don't see Oxlade-Chamberlain's contract renewal as a priority this summer.

The England global had a very positive end to the season and looked like a new player after being deployed as a right-wing-back once Wenger shifted to a three-at-the-back system, and this will have undoubtedly raised his stock as it seemed as though he was struggling to fit in previously.
